ELABORATION
Made exclusively with grapes from our best Camino Las Morras 24.3 ha and 20.9 Vineyard Ocaña has plots. Both plots are planted with vines of Tempranillo 30, on the slopes of a hill and are surrounded by century-old oaks. Viña Ocaña, its highest altitude 800 m above sea level and calcareous and rocky soils, produces concentrated wines with firm tannins. Camino Las Morras however, can produce wines of softer tannins and a remarkable freshness, finding themselves at a slightly lower height and have more clay-rich soils. Quinta de Quercus each year consists of wines from these two plots in different proportions.
In Quinta de Quercus we practice sustainable agriculture, for perfectly balanced vines. We harvest by hand in small boxes that are transported to the winery in refrigerated trucks at 5 ° C, where they remain overnight. After a rigorous visual selection of grapes, grapes of each plot de-stemmed and vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks. Maceration time, temperature and pumping manuals are adapting to the needs of each of the tanks. Then the wine is aged in French oak barrels of 300 L and 225 L American 10 to 14 months. The percentage of new barrels varies each year, with the vintage 2012 25%.
TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby colour. Intense nose which combines expressive blueberry ripe, rosemary and thyme with a proper tertiary complexity of fine wood and hints of spice and cloves. Bodied wine in the mouth, it is juicy, very concentrated, yet vibrant and fresh, long and with a great varietal precision. Good structure with powerful but silky tannins well integrated. Nice wine roundness will win in about two to three years in bottle and with an aging potential of at least ten years.
